About Lumina Forest Project

At Amba, our work is centred around doing the right thing – both by the planet and its people. That’s why we’re so excited to announce our new The Lumina Forest Project in partnership with Further, Eden Restoration Projects’ UK partner.

We are pledging an initial £25,000 to purchase and reforest a patch of land in Madagascar and support the local community within it. The three-year initiative will see us planting 100,000 trees per year, whilst creating stable jobs with fair wages and healthcare benefits for local residents.

Why are we doing this?

Simply put, we are embarking on this reforestation project because it’s the right thing to do.

According to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Madagascar has already lost 80 per cent of its natural areas and it continues to lose an estimated 200,000 hectares annually to deforestation. Recent studies by the Center for Applied Biodiversity Science at Conservation International have also indicated that if the deforestation of Madagascar continues at the current rate, then all of Madagascar’s forests will be lost within 40 years. We can’t stand by and watch while this continues.

The impact of deforestation has not only damaged the habitat but it’s also harmed the communities that lived within those forests. Our project aims to re-establish the relationship between the land and its people and rebuild a rich environment in which the community and wildlife can thrive.

How to get involved

Alongside Amba’s own investment, we are offering our clients the opportunity to get involved in supporting The Lumina Forest Project.

Throughout the initiative, we will plant a minimum of 100,000 trees per year – which clients are invited to participate in – whilst creating stable jobs with fair wages and healthcare benefits for local residents.

We are committed to ensuring that the land is reforested in three years’ time.

Clients can help us achieve this more quickly by donating a lump sum or monthly contribution, in addition to the trees they are planting through their lumina contract. For example, you might opt to donate a few pounds per month on behalf of each of your employees.

When one area is filled, another will be sourced, and a further pledge made. This open-ended approach allows Amba’s technology clients to be as involved as they’d like in The Lumina Forest Project.

Join the project

We will be documenting our progress throughout the project, so contributors can see the impact of their commitment in real-time.

If you choose to support the reforestation programme, you will become part of our The Lumina Forest Project community and receive updates on what your contribution has helped us achieve. Including how much of the area you have contributed to reforesting, enabling you to share this achievement with your network.
